One of the really cool things about buying and using solar lights in your yard or garden is that it not only lowers your monthly electric bill but it also helps to reduce toxic emissions into the earth’s atmosphere. These toxins, more specifically called Carbon Dioxide (or CO2), are considered to be the main culprit when it comes to Global Warming. You might be wondering how this works.
Generating electricity in the United States is usually achieved at major power plants by the burning of fossil fuels like petroleum and coal. Over 40% of all CO2 released in the US is due to these power plants. In a nutshell, this burning process superheats water which then spins large turbines. The result is the electricity that lights your home, heats your water, and freezes your ice cream. As you can see, the less electricity that homeowners need the less demand will be placed on power plants and the less CO2 will be released into the atmosphere. So by doing your small part to reduce your electricity usage every day you are helping to preserve our planet at large!
One of the easy ways to reduce your use of electricity is to use solar-powered lights whenever and wherever possible. Using the sun’s energy costs absolutely nothing and it’s a cinch to set up and operate. For example, you could buy flat, stainless steel driveway solar lights that stick right on top the driveway edges with a basic adhesive. They’ll start collecting energy from the sun right away and you’ll notice a beautiful glow from the very first night. Unlike traditional lights, you’ll probably never have to change the bulbs and the batteries may only need replacing every two years or so.
As should be evident, it’s really a no-brainer to start using solar lights around your home. Why not buy some today and start reducing your home energy bills while reducing our society’s release of CO2 into the atmosphere at the same time?
